Kubb is an offside game with the aim of knocking down wooden blocks by throwing wooden sticks at them. The word "kubb" means "wooden block" in the Gotland dialect of Swedish, as well as in Swedish itself. Kubb can be briefly described as a combination of bowling, petanque and chess.
The object of the game is to knock down all the kubbs underhand with the throwing stick, and finally the king, as quickly as possible before the opposing team does.
The game can be played within thirty seconds, but can also take hours. Over time, blocks may be removed from either side for gameplay. There are no official time guidelines for this. It can also be played on various surfaces, such as grass, sand or concrete and even on snow.
